1. What are the benefits of using Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm?

The Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm is expertly crafted with all-natural ingredients, each offering unique beneficial properties such as anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, moisturising and stimulating circulation of the scalp.

The Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm comprises of:

  • Rosemary oil: Renowned for its role as a scalp and hair tonic, stimulating circulation of the scalp for optimal hair health. It also boasts antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties for a powerful boost.
  • Peppermint oil: Offers antiseptic properties and a soothing cooling effect.
  • Tea Tree oil: Known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits. Great for itchy scalps and/or dandruff.
  • Castor oil (hexane free): Acts as a humectant, effectively preserving moisture and providing excellent hydration.
  • Vitamin E oil: Known for its antioxidant properties and its ability to aid in repair.
  • Olive oil: Packed with fatty acids and antioxidants, making it excellent for nourishing the scalp.
  • Beeswax: Used for locking in moisture. Beeswax creates a protective layer which keeps the scalp hydrated.
  • Cocoa butter (fair trade): Used for locking in moisture and its sweet smell.

2. Are there any side effects from using Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm?

We use all natural ingredients that have a long history of use across many cultures however, everyone is different, so if you experience irritation, discontinue use of the balm. 

NOTE: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your midwife and doctor before making any decision to purchase the Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm as it contains essential oils

3. Will Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm prevent hair loss and/or regrow my hair?

The Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm contains active ingredients that have shown some promise of supporting hair growth for some people who experience hair loss. Hair loss can happen for various reasons (e.g., genetics, hormonal shifts, certain cancer treatments) therefore, it may not be useful for all types of hair loss.

 STUDIES ON EFFECTS OF ROSEMARY OIL ON HAIR HEALTH

 Here are some studies on the efficacy of Rosemary oil (a key ingredient in our Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm):

 2023 Study – Rosemary oil and Cutaneous Diseases – This study refers to Rosemary oil being able to improve microcirculation surrounding the hair follicle.

 

2020 Study – Rosemary oil and its Topical Applications – This study refers to Rosemary oil demonstrating hair growth as a result of blocking dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from binding to receptors in the hair follicles.

 

2015 Study – Rosemary oil vs minoxidil – This study compared the efficacy of Rosemary oil to minoxidil 2% solution for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Patients used either minoxidil 2% solution or Rosemary oil, with a dramatic increase in hair count reported for both treatments and without significant differences between the two study groups, which confirmed the therapeutic effectiveness of Rosemary oil.

4. How long will my Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm last?

If stored in a cool, dark place our balm will last for 12 months.

5. What’s with the sinkhole?

You might see a sinkhole in the centre of your balm. This happens because the balm is initially poured as a warm liquid that solidifies as it cools. The outer edges cool faster than the centre, resulting in a sinkhole. Rest assured, this does not affect the balm’s effectiveness.

 As a natural brand, we embrace these unique imperfections as part of what makes our products special.

 6. Where are your products made?

 Our products are made right here in Aotearoa!

 7. Is the Cocoa Butter fair trade?

Yes, it is absolutely important that sustainable incomes are created for cocoa farmers.

 8. How should I store my products?

A cool, dark place will ensure the longevity of your Ayloe. Scalp Care Balm. In warmer weather, a fridge works well. 

 9. Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes. Staying true to our eco-conscious ethos, our packaging is made from FSC Certified Kraft Paper and is 100% recyclable.

 6. Do you charge extra for rural delivery?

Yes, we pass on NZ Post's rural delivery surcharge. Refer to the rural delivery fee shipping option for further details. 

 7. Do you offer free shipping?

Yes, we have free shipping above a minimum spend of NZD $50 for New Zealand and AUD$100 for Australia. Note that minimum spend excludes shipping cost. 

8. Is click and collect available?

Sorry, we do not have a click and collect option at this time.
